โน๏ธ Patients are a last-generation feature and won't be updated as frequently. If you already use a PIMS, we recommend not creating patients in Scribenote and simply using our auto-generated note titles to keep track of which patients your medical records are for.
To begin, navigate to the Patient Notebook via the links at the bottom of the screen. When you get there, you'll see a purple + Patient button beside the search bar. Go ahead and press it!
This is the patient creation interface. Hopefully the fields are self-explanatory, but in case they aren't, let's go through them together!
Name
Name
The patient's first name is a required field. The owner's last name isn't required, but it's helpful to put something here to distinguish the patient, so that you don't have 20 patients named just "Fluffy" in your notebook. ๐
Species
Species
We have quite the selection of preset species in our dropdown, each one with their own pictorial representation of that animal. (even spiders! ๐ท) But in case none of them suit your fancy, you can select the "Other" option at the bottom of the dropdown.
Breed
Breed
This isn't a required field, but you can get descriptive here! For example, if you're entering info for a feline patient, you could select our preset "Domestic short-haired" breed from the dropdown, or you could type in something like "DSH, orange and white".
Date of Birth / Age
Date of Birth / Age
We understand that it's often impossible to know a patient's exact date of birth, so we have an option for entering an approximate age as well! To do this, select the Enter Age option, and then type in values for weeks, months, and years.
Sex and Intact status
Sex and Intact status
This is required. Select Male or Female, then you will see a checkbox appear that says "Neutered" or "Spayed" depending on which sex you selected. Leave the box unchecked if the patient is still intact.
And that's all there is to creating a patient! When you've saved their details, you'll be taken to their patient profile:
