In most cases, you won't need to use a separate microphone to record audio with Scribenote. The microphone on your device should work great by default! If you aren't sure, try out this microphone test - https://www.vidyard.com/mic-test/
If you are using a desktop computer
If you're using any computer with a built-in webcam, such as a laptop, you're good to go because there's a built-in microphone! If not, you'll likely need to attach an external microphone to capture your appointment audio. We recommend having a conference room mic in your exam room!
If you are using a mobile device (phone, tablet)
Your device's microphone should work great for Scribenote. Make sure to place it somewhere central to where the appointment will be, and preferably not in a pocket where the microphone holes may be covered.
But, I work in a noisy environment!
If the loud noise is ambient (eg. constant buzzing, background chatter, dogs barking, etc.) Scribenote should have no trouble filtering it out. Occasionally, it may have trouble when there are two conversations happening in very close proximity (less than a few feet away) and it may pick up information from both conversations. Regardless, Scribenote will only put the relevant medical information into your SOAP!
We recommend trialing a few appointment runs to test if the audio is being picked up accurately before using it in a real appointment. You can open the note to listen back on to the recording!
