What’s the difference between a default template and a custom template?

Default Templates vs. Adaptive Templates

Updated yesterday

Scribenote offers two types of templates to help streamline documentation: Default Templates and Adaptive Templates. Understanding how they differ will help you get the most out of your plan.

Default Templates

Default Templates are pre-built and rigorously tested by the Scribenote team to support a wide range of standard clinical use cases. These templates are:

  • Ready to use immediately

  • Designed for general scenarios

  • Not customizable – with the exception of Custom Objective Defaults in SOAPs

All users, including those on the Scribenote Free plan, have access to Default Templates.

Adaptive Templates

Adaptive Templates are available only to Scribenote Pro users. They offer greater flexibility, enabling users to:

  • Create fully customized templates

  • Modify sections, layout, and terminology to suit specific workflows

Note: While all team members can see Adaptive Templates created within their team, only Scribenote Pro users can actually use them in their notes. If you're on the Free plan, you’ll need to upgrade to Pro to apply Adaptive Templates.
