What is PIMSPal?

A browser extension for web-based PIMS platforms to move your Scribenote notes directly into your PIMS.

Updated this week

PIMSPal is a browser extension built for web-based PIMS platforms. With PIMSPal, Scribenote Pro users can quickly and easily transfer notes straight into their PIMS, all within the browser.

PIMSPal makes it simple to move your Scribenote notes directly into your PIMS. Follow the steps below to get set up and start using it.

Getting Started

  1. Download the Extension. You can install PIMSPal from your browser’s extension store. PIMSPal is supported on:

  2. Log In to Scribenote. Once the extension is installed, log in with your Scribenote account. You can log in directly from the extension.

Or by clicking the PIMSPal icon that appears on your screen.

  3. Enable PIMSPal. PIMSPal must be enabled on each site where you want it to auto fill. To enable it, click the PIMSPal browser extension icon, then select Enable PIMSPal on website_name.

PIMSPal is already optimized for the following PIMS, so no additional setup is required on these websites:

    • Pulse/eVetPractice

    • EzyVet

  4. Find the PIMSPal Icon.

You should now see a small PIMSPal logo floating on your screen. Clicking it will expand the menu and give you access to your notes.

Exporting Notes PIMSPal

When you open a patient’s profile in your PIMS, and click on a large text field, PIMSPal automatically recognizes which section of the SOAP note you’re in. If you’re editing the Subjective section in your PIMS, clicking there will bring up the matching Subjective section from Scribenote. From there, you can import the content directly into PIMS with one click. If you’d like, you can also choose to import a different SOAP section, client summary or even the entire note.

Matching Notes to Patients

PIMSPal automatically pulls the most recent 20 notes. If the note you are looking for is not there, you can search for the patient's name or note title.

If you are using an optimized PIMS, PIMSPal automatically detects the patient and finds the closest matching Scribenote note using the patient’s name. If the suggested note isn’t correct, you can manually choose a different note by clicking on the note and selecting a new one from the modal.

Notes in the Select a Note list are prioritized in this order for optimized PIMS:

  1. Notes with the patient’s name in the title

  2. Notes with the patient’s name in the body

  3. All other notes, sorted by most recent first

If you’re part of more than one team, you can also filter notes by team.

To enable patient matching on other PIMS, you can manually select the patient’s signalment on the page.

  1. Right click anywhere on the page to open the context menu

  2. Go to Scribenote PIMSPal

  3. Click Select a patient signalment

  4. Click to select a text area on the page that contains the patient’s signalment. Once the green frame contains the whole patient signalment, click to confirm

Once the patient information has been located by PIMSPal, it will work similarly to optimized PIMS and pull relevant patient notes automatically.

PIMSPal remembers this signalment location for future visits, so you only need to do this once per device and account.

Formatting the Note

If the note you selected uses an Adaptive Template that includes markdown formatting, you can import the format directly into your PIMS by selecting the Import as Markdown option. The formatting will display right away so you can preview it before clicking Import.

To learn more about markdown formatting, please see the article below.

Overriding or Adding to Notes

When importing text, you’ll be asked whether you want to Override Existing Content.

  • If selected: The imported text will replace the content in that PIMS section.

  • If unselected: The imported text will be added to whatever is already written in your PIMS.

Completing the PIMS Note

Your notes will get marked as exported once you've imported all the sections into your PIMS.
