What is Scribephone?

Scribephone is a Scribenote Pro feature for calling clients from the app, this article answers common questions about Scribephone.

Scribephone is a Scribenote Pro feature lets you call your clients directly from the app, no need for external tools! Every call is recorded with both sides of the conversation captured, allowing you to automatically generate a note from the recording.

What number will the client see when receiving a call?

If you’ve completed the verification process to add your clinic’s phone number, your clients will see your verified clinic number when you call them.

If your number hasn’t been verified, clients will see a default system number instead:

  • For U.S. clients: (279) 240-3875

  • For Canadian clients: (778) 652-4140

These default numbers are not connected to your clinic, so if a client tries to call them back, they won’t be able to reach you.

To ensure clients recognize your calls and can return them easily, we strongly recommend verifying your clinic’s phone number.


Will the client be notified that they are being recorded?

If the "Automatic verbal warning" toggle is ON in your Scribephone settings, the client will hear a robotic message saying, “This call will be recorded for veterinary documentation” before each call.

If the toggle is OFF, clients will not hear an automatic message, and you’ll be shown the manual consent collection screen unless you've chosen "Remember my decision." This setting applies only to your account and not to your teammates. It works across both the web and mobile dialer.

If your organization has enforced a specific consent method, the toggle will be greyed out and unchangeable.

Is there a time limit for Scribephone calls, or a maximum duration a call can last?

Scribephone calls are currently limited to 1 hour in length. At the 1 hour mark the call will end, so please be mindful of your call length.


I want to use the “Add” button and call the client about a follow-up, but I don’t see the Scribephone option.

The Scribephone option isn’t currently supported when using the “Add to Recording” button. To make a Scribephone call, you’ll need to start a new note and record the call separately.
